Why and What The Perry County Economic Development Authority, utilizing funding from the USDA Rural Development, worked to assess the economic needs of Perry County. Partnering with the consulting firm Arnett Muldrow & Associates, who specialize in and have extensive experience working with rural communities, a quality of life survey was developed and executed with an excellent response and valuable information obtained. Among the numerous interesting and pertinent facts discovered was that 83% of the people surveyed held a high regard for Perry County, but also of those persons surveyed, 81% felt that others maintained a poor regard of the County. This disparity is a classic example showing an urgent need of a branding effort. It was clear that our story needs to be told. If you are not the one telling your story then others will tell their version of your story. Branding simply stated is how people think and speak of you when you are not in the room. Quite often studies are conducted but the implementation is never executed. The PCEDA, along with additional funding and support of both the County and the USDA Rural Development, has been able to develop and execute a branding strategy. Again, working with Arnett Muldrow & Associates, a brand strategy was begun. Building on our previous work, the PCEDA commenced a series of round table discussions. These discussions consisted of Community Leaders, Business Leaders, Agriculture Community, Tourism, and our young people. A public meeting was also conducted. After considerable research, discussions, and much diligence, the PCEDA is proud to present the results of these efforts. We respectfully request your involvement in making this a successful undertaking. We are Perry County Carefully Cultivated!
